A Community of Friends Wins Two Awards

A Community of Friends won TWO awards in recognition of their Silver Star Apartments at the 2018 Los Angeles Business Council Architectural Awards earlier this month. The multi-family complex won the Housing Award and the Sustainability Award.  Silver Star Apartments broke ground in April 2016 and was completed in June 2017. The 49-unit apartment building is a 100% special needs community for formerly homeless veterans as well as veterans with disabilities.  Notably, Silver Star is the first Zero Net Energy multi-family, affordable housing project in Los Angeles.  The goal of the project is to meet the “Living Building Challenge” – the world’s most rigorous proven performance standard for buildings.
