Office of Sustainable Housing and Communities Created, Suggestions Sought for Grant Program

(from Memo to Members, the publication of the National Low Income Housing Coalition) HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan formally announced the launch of HUD's new Office of Sustainable Housing and Communities (OSHC) on February 4. The office will operationalize the Administration's Sustainable Communities Initiative, which was funded at $150 million in FY10 appropriations, the level requested by the Administration (see Memo, 12/11/09).

Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco Appoints Three New Members To AHAC

The Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco has appointed three new members to their Affordable Housing Advisory Council (AHAC)-Jasmine Borrego of TELACU; Joel Jacinto of Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA); and Dean Matsubayashi of Little Tokyo Service Center Community Development Corporation (LTSC). The AHAC is a 15-member group that provides guidance on affordable housing and economic development issues and helps shape the Bank's community investment grant programs and credit products.

Santa Monica Monitoring Consultant RFQ

The City of Santa Monica's Housing Division is seeking qualified experts to provide affordable housing monitoring and compliance program development. The selected firm will assist the City to update improve and perform its policies, procedures and monitoring activities for its CDBG, HOME, Affordable Housing Production Program (Inclusionary), Redevelopment Housing Trust Fund (RHTF) and other Housing Trust Fund (HTF)-financed very-low, low and moderate income units. The current City affordable housing portfolio monitoring obligations.

Global Green is committed to advancing green building practices as an integral aspect of affordable housing. As part of the work we conduct through the Green Affordable Housing Initiative, we have produced a ranking and summary of green building trends in state QAPs every year for the past five years. Green building measures in QAP documents are evaluated across four categories - Smart Growth, Energy Efficiency, Resource Conservation, and Health Protection.
