What Do We Mean by Housing First?

Emerging in the early 1990s, the term's basic premise is that homeless and at-risk people and families are best served by moving into permanent housing, with comprehensive services provided to help them with the challenges they face in their lives after they have a permanent place to live, rather than housing them first in shelters or transitional housing as a prerequisite to moving into permanent housing.

If you are currently operating a faith-based or community based non-profit organization you are invited to participate in a FREE training series. The focus of our winter training series is on enhancing and strengthening agencies and organizations working with low and moderate income families seeking employment or assistance with family stability. This program is primarily open to those who are working with low-income youth, families, and communities within the City of Los Angeles.
