Green Building Guide for Affordable Housing Developers

Green building is appropriate for affordable housing developers because it creates long-term savings and positively impacts the tenants they serve and the communities in which they work. There is a perception that environmentally-friendly building techniques are incompatible with the tight budgets of affordable housing projects. This assumption overlooks not only the extensive benefits of “green” buildings for affordable housing developers, but also the many cost-effective measures and alternative financing mechanisms that can make green affordable housing a reality.
