City of Downey RFQ: Infill Housing Opportunity in downtown Downey

The City of Downey is currently moving forward with a strategy to redevelop the downtown area of Downey. The strategy is twofold: First, the City seeks to implement several catalytic projects in the Downtown area that will help to both reshape it and pave the way for similar and new redevelopment in Downtown; and second, the City will undertake a planning process that will put in place new regulations that enable both new land uses and strongly encourage development using modern urban planning principles.

The City seeks a qualified developer with a proven track record to redevelop two key Downtown properties: the Avenue Theater, located at 11022 Downey Avenue, and the Verizon Building located at 8314 2nd Street. Both properties are located close to each other and both are in the central area of Downtown.

Deadline for submittal is November 14, 2008.
