JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Media and Development Coordinator Organization: The California Reinvestment Coalition (CRC) facilitates positive economic change in neighborhoods that are underserved by mainstream financial institutions, where financial predators deplete the assets of hard‐working Californians. CRC is a statewide coalition of more than 250 nonprofit organizations and public agencies working for economic justice, affordable housing and community development in low‐income communities and communities of color. CRC also works to stop "alternative" financial institutions like payday lenders and subprime mortgage lenders from threatening the economic security of California families living in poverty. CRC has taken a lead in promoting solutions to California's foreclosure crisis and raised more than $5 million for mortgage counseling. CRC is a small, dynamic organization that offers opportunities to grow professionally. Responsibilities: Produce compelling press releases and other promotional/media materials Grow relationships with key reporters and editors at major media outlets Organize media events and press conferences Direct multi‐media projects (i.e. short films, audio testimonials) Help victims of predatory lending tell their stories Develop and implement media strategies for CRC reports and other projects Write grant proposals and foundation reports Write and edit content for CRC website Qualifications: At least two years of experience as a news reporter and/or editor, or in media outreach Excellent writing and editing skills Foundation knowledge Web‐based and visual media knowledge and experience Minimum of Bachelors of Arts degree Excellent communication, organizational and computer skills Ability to multi‐task and learn new skills An interest in affordable housing, economic development, and low‐income consumer issues Salary: Depending on experience.
