Communications & Design CoordinatorSubmitted by Casey Horan on 2 June 2008 - 3:41pm.Lamp Community is an innovative Los Angeles based nonprofit organization that permanently ends homelessness, improves health and builds self-sufficiency among homeless men and women living with severe mental illness.
Lamp Community is seeking a Communications & Design Coordinator. This newly created position is designed to coordinate the agency’s communications activities, including leading the agency’s website redevelopment efforts. This position will strengthen the impact of agency communications, further fundraising efforts, and be responsible for writing and editing a full range of materials.
Responsibilities:
•Write and edit all communication materials. Design, produce and oversee creation and production of all marketing and promotional fundraising materials including brochures, press packets, invitations/holiday cards, fact sheets, website copy, program updates, policy briefs, client profiles, press releases, etc.
•Coordinate the re-design, implementation, and maintenance of a new website and fully employ the potential to fulfill communications, advocacy, and fundraising goals. Ensure completion of the new site in a timely manner. Generate updated copy and images/graphics.
•Provide other communications-related support as needed. Produce written reports from staff resources. Assist with coordination and logistics of special events. Stay abreast of current events and issues that relate to agency programs and goals. Track media coverage. Increase online giving and engagement of new donors. Some grant writing responsibilities. Assistance with additional projects as needed.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required in English, Journalism, Public Health or related with significant experience in a multi-disciplinary communications role and at least 2 years experience in a non-profit or grassroots organization setting. Ability to translate what the agency does into written form for online and print resources. Excellent written, verbal, and electronic communication skills as well as research and editing skills. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously on tight deadlines. Be creative, innovative, reliable, a self-starter, and problem-solver. Have flexibility to work on different tasks as needed. Strong attention to detail. Knowledgeable about permanent supportive housing, chronic homelessness, mental illness, and harm reduction is preferred as well as experience in web site development and graphic design. Experience writing and designing print materials required. Advanced computer skills necessary. Ability to communicate agency mission clearly and accurately.
