Director of Human ResourcesSubmitted by Casey Horan on 9 April 2008 - 6:08pm.Lamp Community, an innovative Los Angeles based nonprofit organization, permanently ends homelessness, improves the health and builds self-sufficiency among homeless men and women living with severe mental illness.
The Director of Human Resources manages and administers all HR functions at Lamp Community, including: benefits, staffing, performance management, employee relations, cultural competency and diversity initiatives, and professional development. Lamp Community has a workforce of 90 + employees. Facilitate staff recruitment, hiring and employee orientation. Develop job descriptions. Oversee performance evaluation processes. Manage and maintain all employee records relating to employment, including confidential personnel files and database records. Negotiate benefits with insurance brokers and carriers. Administer the compensation and benefits package for employees, including medical, dental, disability insurance and pension plans. Assist with payroll activities. Manage employee garnishments. Coach managers and consult on organizational effectiveness and workforce issues. Create, implement and evaluate a comprehensive staff training and professional development program. Provide guidance and decisions on employee relations issues, including performance management and terminations. Conduct periodic review and update of human resources policies procedures and documents for applicability to organizational culture, best practices and compliance with local, state and federa l regulations and requirements. BA. Minimum three years experience managing a comprehensive program for an organization with at least 40 full-time staff. Benefits administration experience. Knowledge of payroll applications. Extensive knowledge of current federal, state and local regulations and requirements regarding employment and other personnel actions. A strong ability to attract, retain and develop talent. Demonstrated ability to work with senior management and board of directors to establish high confidence in HR function. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to create an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration. Non profit experience preferred.
