LA County Neighborhood Housing Services Hosts Homeownership Preservation Fairs

The LA County NeighborWorks Center for Foreclosure Solutions Coalition is offering free foreclosure counseling. Currently, one million families face losing their homes to foreclosures and more than 6 in 10 delinquent homeowners are not aware of services that mortgage lenders can offer a person behind in their mortgage.

Recognizing the threat that foreclosure rates pose, the Los Angeles Neighborhood Housing Services (LA NHS) began an aggressive focus on homeownership preservation in 2003. In neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles County, the implementation of foreclosure avoidance initiatives by LA NHS has been utilized to help minimize the adverse neighborhood impact of foreclosures in situations where it may not be feasible or appropriate to keep an owner in their home.

Families are being encouraged to use the national number 888-995-HOPE to direct them to HUD spproved resources. LA NHS is also conducting monthly fairs and participating at various elected folks counseling events. Visit http://lanhs.org/ for more information.
