The East LA Community Corporation a non-profit organization is seeking a Director of Development and Communications. The Director of Development and Communications will be responsible for facilitating the creation of fund development and communications plan. The Director will be responsible of implementation of the plan including the grant and report writing, cultivation of individual donors, and fundraising special events. The Director is responsible for coordinating communications for the organization including special events, newsletters, and the website. This position requires a highly motivated, detail-oriented and multi-talented individual to provide high-level strategy and skills with commitment to social and economic justice. This position does not currently supervise any staff. The Director will report to the Associate Director.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- FUND DEVELOPMENT: (approximately 75% of time)
* Create a comprehensive fund development plan and work with key staff to integrate and formalize development strategy. *Conduct research and proposal writing for foundation, government, individual and corporate grants. *Build relationships with new donors and grantmakers.* Grant administration and reporting.* Create and sustain systems for tracking grants/timelines, status, etc.* Cultivate existing and future donors;Input all campaign pledges, gifts and generate thank you letters in a timely fashion.* Maximize and increase current and future donor communication and solicitations.* Plan,coordinate and implement fundraising and special events.* Work with Fundraising Committee of the ELACC board of Directors to implement ELACC's fund development plan.
- COMMUNICATIONS: (approximately 25% of time)
* Create and manage organization's communication plan, including newsletters,funding campaign letters, press releases, press coverage, brochures, etc.* Develop and cultivate press contacts.* Develop talking points for ELACC spokespeople.* Oversee the creation of graphics and branding including the creation of all materials and website. *Develop communications protocol.* Coordinate the work of any consultant hired for fund development and/or communications and monitor their effectiveness.
- GENERAL:
*Actively participate in Organizational staff meetings, planning and events.* Actively engage in Board of Directors' Fund Development Committee.* Share knowledge and experience with non-Fund Development and Communications Staff.* Maintain up to date with program needs, goals and progress.* Other duties and tasks assigned by supervisor and ELACC President.
- QUALIFICATIONS:
* Minimum three to five years of experience in fund development and communications for multi-faceted non-profits.* Demonstrated success in identifying, cultivating and soliciting,individual, foundation, government and Corporate donors.* Strategic and innovative thinker capable of leading and working collaboratively.* Highly personable, diplomatic and social.* Demonstrated ability to work independently, and as a part of a team.* Excellent communications skills, both oral and written.*Organizational skills in designing and implementing multiple projects, settings priorities and deadlines.* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office; must be proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, Internet and Research Skills.* Bilingual Spanish, preferred.* Knowledge of East LA Community Corporation's target constituents, preferred.

* Salary to be negotiated depending on quialifications and experience. This is a full-time exempt position with good benefits package including health, dental,life and disability insurance, and Simple IRA.
