The story of Brigette and Eswin begins and starts with their children.
Working hard for years, they had dreamed of owning their own home. A home that could not only provide a good investment for the future, but also provide enough room for their children to study and grow and demonstrate that hard work can help to achieve the dream of homeownership.
Eswin had worked for 15 years as a hotel courtesy driver. Brigette had also worked for 15 years as a parking lot attendant. While both worked hard and always put their children's needs ahead of any of their own, their combined incomes could do little to be able to afford a home in L.A.'s overheated real estate market - where the cost of an average home easily surpassed $500,000. The dream seemed unreachable.
Thanks to ACORN aand ELAAC, Bridgette and Eswin began taking classes to learn what they needed to do. Motivated by the need for more room for their children to study away from their cramped and noisy rental apartment, they decided to do whatever was necessary to be able to buy a home where their kids could study and get a chance at a good education.
When ELAAC offered the family that opportunity, they accomplished their dream. Today, their kids not only learned the value of hard work and sacrifice from their parents, they are getting better grades and working harder in school. Becoming homeowners has helped their family dream even bigger dreams.
